Maïté is experienced in working with all ages​​

Maïté Simard is a student Art Therapist at the Toronto Art Therapy Institute (TATI) and a multidisciplinary artist. Her practice is person-centered, layering various media and techniques (such as painting, drawing, sculpting, printing, poetry, sandplay, puppetry, storytelling, or roleplay) to create pathways to self-expression and discovery, with a special interest in the therapeutic use of storytelling, myths, and folktales. She is passionate about trauma recovery and promoting growth, resilience, agency, and trust for individuals, as well as within and between communities.

Maïté is currently a student intern at LGP under the supervision of Lori Gill and has been trained in the Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment Model (ITATM®). She has 10 years of experience working with immigrant and refugee children and their families in various settings, both in Canada and abroad.

​She trained in transcultural intervention at the Sherpa Research Institute in Montreal and holds a MA in Cultural Studies from Queen’s University, a BA in Psychology, Migration, and Arabic studies from UQAM, and a theatre certificate from Laval University. She speaks native French and English, as well as intermediate levels of Spanish, Turkish, and Arabic.
